Yes it would, it did, and that was what my mother saw after every strapping when she inspected my bottom and said 'Right, that's good.' What did she mean?

Those broad red bands of hurting bottom let her know you had been taught a lesson Janice,that was the good part, she had done her job. If you learned from it was another matter, that would be measured by how soon you needed teaching again.
